HSI Leads Plant-based Culinary Trainings

Last week, HSI-Africa collaborated with the Western Cape Government, Department of Health and Department of Agriculture, as well as the Great Commission Network NPC (GCN NPC) to conduct four Green Monday SouthAfrica cooking demonstrations in local Cape Town communities. The Department of Agriculture’s 100 Impilo Household Vegetable Gardens and Grey Water Harvesting Project, led by GCN NPC, empowers low income communities to grow and maintain their own food gardens using grey water systems (recycled / reusable water). Once the communities’ garden produce was in plenty, HSI-Africa and the Department of Health (through their WoW! healthy lifestyles initiative) trained 62 community members on healthy plant-based eating habits and the benefits of eating green.
